Well lovely backers, you may or may not have heard or been a part of our Kickstarter campaign for POP KILL last year.  If you were, we highly thank you.  If you weren’t, well, you’re just in time for a pretty cool item.  A bit of a backstory on this campaign and book.  POP KILL was the brainchild of JIMMY PALMIOTTI and cover legend extraordinaire DAVE JOHNSON.  They had been friends for decades when finally Dave had great idea for a story.

Dave actually had the idea about “Cola Wars” for years. It always struck me as a funny concept being what if Coke and Pepsi being such a wholesome product, but secretly going after each other using extreme tactics. What’s not to love? Dave had much of the story worked out and was really just a case of adding little things here and there to the script and dialog to make it flow a bit more.  We are world building a place where spies and counter intelligence are mixed in with the world of soda pop. Dave had this idea and as we work on each issue, the idea grows and takes the reader in some wild directions along the way.

We pulled in artist JUAN SANTACRUZ (who’s art you saw on our recent Zestworld series FOUND, shameless plug that you should really go check it out!) who took the script and pulled together a great visual interpretation of the script and went flying with it.  We knew all along, this was going to be a fun project and one we could Kickstart with and tell in a four (4) issue arc.  

As we set out for the campaign, we knew all along, with how the collectors market was, variants were highly prized and sought after.  Thank fully, with a roster of industry superstars as our colleagues, we just needed to convince them to help us out (and of course, pay them).  So we recruited everyone from AMANDA CONNER, BILL SIENKIEWICZ, and finally ADAM HUGHES.  

Which brings us to this special newsletter bonus.  When ADAM did his cover for POP KILL #3, we limited it to what people ordered and had a cap limit.  Little did we expect, people went crazy over this cover.  As they should, it was not only a great cover, it was adult, ADAM was given no restrictions and it was one of the most limited print runs of ADAM’s covers.  Now if you go to eBay, you’ll see his cover for graded versions going for well over $1000.  All by people who likely backed for that tier at just $45.  

Well, due to POP KILL being such a draw and request, we’ve done a second printing for POP KILL #1 as a special edition which includes a cover gallery of all the POP KILL covers along with a new version of the ADAM HUGHES cover that is even racier and adult than the first.  And ADAM made the alterations himself!  All from his cheeky mind, he went further and outdid himself in our opinion.  This will have a limited print run of just 1000 copies.  That’s right, that is still a super short print run for a cover by ADAM HUGHES.  It will still be a hot ticket item.  Take a look at this cover (naughty bits covered for this mailer, rest assured, the final version is untouched).
