Lady Killer's Home Journal: A Cocktail-Party Playlist
Joëlle Jones

Editor's Note

Dear Reader:

An editorial visit to Joëlle's studio can be many things -- surprising, alarming, possibly expensive -- but on our most recent call, it was largely cluttered.

We shoved open the studio door against a tide of half-packed suitcases. In the eye of this gadabout's hurricane stood Ms. Jones, holding out a pitcher of something bright green. A pug napped on a nearby Samsonite case.

"What I should do is finishing packing for San Diego Comic-Con," she said as she filled our glasses with what looked like Kryptonite (and, next morning, felt like Kryptonite). "Instead I'm playing with some new pencils." A sketchbook sat nearby.

The trip to this year's funnybook congress was decided at the last minute, but the powers that be still managed to cobble together a signing schedule. Feel free to say hello Friday-Sunday, July 21-23 at the following booths and panels:

Ask Josie Anything!

Dear Josie:  I’m getting ready for a cocktail party at my home and everything's in place -- fondue set, rum punch, clam dip, deviled eggs, Jell-O AND ambrosia salads -- but I just realized I forgot to sort out the evening's music playlist! Can you help?

— Seriously Worried — I Need Grooves!

Fear not, SWING! I flipped through our HiFi collection and hastily assembled a playlist suitable for a boistrious, glass-clinking lounge. Field testing confirms the following songs pair wonderfully with our "Cold and Bitter Revenge" cocktail. I hope you enjoy Mel "The Velvet Fog" Tormé as much as Gene does!
